As a patient here at Walkers Opticians you may wonder why we think that retinal photographs are such a great idea that we include them with the private eye test. Well that’s because they can tell us a significant amount about not only your eye health but your health in general.

In addition to the standard eye examination, retinal photographs can help highlight things such as diabetes and high blood pressure as well as more obvious eye related problems such as glaucoma, age related macular degeneration and cataracts.

Retinal photography is quick and painless, we believe it is important for patient health for the reasons detailed above which is why we include it as part of our private sight test. As the NHS does not include this as part of their eye test we charge our NHS patients a nominal fee of £10.
